Thanksgiving Outreach
November 23, 2024
Our annual Thanksgiving Outreach aims to provide a Thanksgiving meal and opportunities for prayer to those with food insecurity.
We work in partnership with the Hilliard Food Pantry, Hilliard City Schools, Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, and many volunteers.
Thanksgiving Outreach serves 350-400 families with thousands of pounds of fresh produce, several pallets of turkeys, hundreds of pumpkin pies, and over $9,000 in gift cards, thanks to your generous donations!
To sign up to receive support for Thanksgiving for your family, please go to the Hilliard Food Pantry Plus during service hours starting on November 5.
Staff Contact: Pastor Jon Osmundson.

Feeding Hilliard Students
In partnership with Hilliard Kiwanis, we send food home on Fridays and for holiday breaks during the school year with 450 students who experience food insecurity in the Hilliard City Schools District.
These packs cost approximately $3.50 each, to help ensure that children have access to food when not in school. We are thankful for our partnership with our Kiwanis friends, and we are always thankful for anyone who wishes to pack bags on Wednesday nights or offer financial contributions.
During the summer this ministry continues to provide food packs for about 250 at-risk students in partnership with Hilliard Kiwanis and Festa (formerly SON ministries).
Meets Wednesdays at 6pm in the Warehouse 839 studio space. Prepping these bags takes about an hour, and all ages are encouraged to participate! There are also opportunities to deliver the bags to the schools on Thursday mornings during the school year.

Red Cross Blood Drives
The Red Cross hosts a Blood Drive at Hilliard UMC several times a year. Even one pint of blood can help many patients.
The American Red Cross is urging donors who are feeling healthy and well to make an appointment to give blood to maintain the blood supply for patients who rely on lifesaving transfusions.
Blood donations support patients fighting cancer, mothers experiencing complications during childbirth, transplant patients and those with chronic illnesses.
Check our online calendar for the next blood drive – generally the first Thursday of the month in our Warehouse 839 space.
Donate the gift of life
Make an appointment to donate blood:
- Call the American Red Cross (1.800.RED.CROSS) OR
- Visit RedCrossBlood.org, using sponsor code Hilliard UMC
Walk-ins always welcome, though appointments take priority.
For detailed donor eligibility questions, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit RedCrossBlood.org.

Location: Missions Room, Warehouse 839 building.
Monday is mission day, and our emphasis has broadened. Come help create homemade quilts for:
- Moms2B, an “innovative, community-based program” of Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center that aims to support low-income women through pregnancy and motherhood.
- Stepp Clinic Program (OSU)
- My Very Own Blanket, fleece blankets for foster children
- UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), large unlined quilts that go internationally as well as stateside
- Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky
- Toledo Maternal Health
We also make quilts for children getting baptized at Hilliard UMC.
We accept fabric and pass on what we cannot use to St. Paul’s Lutheran (New Rome) and the Golden Hobby Shop (Columbus), which assists seniors in their arts and crafts projects.
Wednesday is open for your own projects. Linda is also available some afternoons for special projects.
Don’t know how to quilt yet? Beginners welcome! You can cut fabric, sew, do finishing work, and more, while you learn.
