Looking for a way to reach out to serve our neighbors beyond the walls of the church? Try out one of these options!
Gift Card Donations Due: Sunday, November 14.
Thanksgiving Outreach Distribution Day: Saturday, November 20.
Our annual Thanksgiving Outreach aims to provide a Thanksgiving meal to those with food insecurity. We’ll offer opportunities for prayer, too.
We work in partnership with the Hilliard Food Pantry, Hilliard City Schools, and Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church.
For 2021, because of ongoing COVID-19 concerns, we’re collecting gift cards for $10 rather than food. Gift cards for $10 can be for any grocery store in the area (the $10 amount helps us distribute gift cards evenly to families; higher amounts make this more difficult).
You can drop your gift card donations off in the offering plate on Sundays at worship or to the church office during office hours, or you can mail them to the church (make sure to mark for Thanksgiving Outreach). You can also give online using the link below, and we’ll purchase gift cards (use the Operating Fund line and mark “Thanksgiving Outreach” in the memo field).
On Saturday, November 20, you can volunteer to come to church and deliver gift cards to guests (at their cars or in the Warehouse 839 worship space), provide information to guests, and/or offer to pray with guests, among other tasks. Families welcome!
In 2020, our Thanksgiving Outreach served 350 families, thanks to your generous donations! We made real connections with people, heard prayer concerns, and prayed with people, too.

All welcome! Invite your friends to stop by, or take them a meal, whether connected to Hilliard UMC or not!

There is no cost for the meal, but free will offerings will be accepted each week.

Red Cross Blood Drives
The Red Cross hosts a Blood Drive at Hilliard UMC several times a year. Even one pint of blood can help many patients.
The American Red Cross is urging donors who are feeling healthy and well to make an appointment to give blood to maintain the blood supply for patients who rely on lifesaving transfusions.
Blood donations support patients fighting cancer, mothers experiencing complications during childbirth, transplant patients and those with chronic illnesses.
Check our online calendar for the next blood drive.
Donate the gift of life
Make an appointment to donate blood:
- Call the American Red Cross (1.800.RED.CROSS) OR
- Visit RedCrossBlood.org, using sponsor code Hilliard UMC
Walk-ins always welcome, though appointments take priority.
For detailed donor eligibility questions, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit RedCrossBlood.org.
Books in Little Hands
Donate new or gently-used children’s books, and we’ll distribute them to young readers in the greater Columbus area through local food pantries, including Hilliard Food Pantry.

You can drop off books at the church office during office hours. There are also opportunities to help pick up books from church or other locations and distribute them to food pantries. Sign up using the Get Involved button, and we’ll send you more information about how you can serve.

Seams That Bind
Threads of Faith
Location: Missions Room, Warehouse 839 building.
Monday is mission day, and our emphasis has broadened. Come help create homemade quilts for:
- Moms2B, an “innovative, community-based program” of Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center that aims to support low-income women through pregnancy and motherhood.
- Stepp Clinic Program (OSU)
- My Very Own Blanket, fleece blankets for foster children
- UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), large unlined quilts that go internationally as well as stateside
- Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky
- Toledo Maternal Health
We also make quilts for children getting baptized at Hilliard UMC.
We accept fabric and pass on what we cannot use to St. Paul’s Lutheran (New Rome) and the Golden Hobby Shop (Columbus), which assists seniors in their arts and crafts projects.
Wednesday is open for your own projects. Linda is also available some afternoons for special projects.
Don’t know how to quilt yet? Beginners welcome! You can cut fabric, sew, do finishing work, and more, while you learn.
Ministry Leader: Linda Overman.

United Methodist Free Store
Donate new or gently-used clothing and household goods to persons on the West Side of Columbus, and/or serve at the West Side Free Store. Contact Barbara Murray or the UM Free Store for more information (614.443.1713), or visit their website HERE.
Pick up a reusable shopping bag to keep in your car, a grocery list, and some prayer cards from church. Then shop and fill bags with nonperishable food items using the list of suggestions. Hand them to those who are in need while you’re out and about. Ask their name and how you can be praying for them. Offer a prayer right then if you’re comfortable doing so.
Mission Item of the Month
Donate food or other items to benefit the Hilliard Food Pantry or another worthy mission. There’s a collection bin outside the Sanctuary.
Hilliard Farm Market
Volunteers representing Hilliard UMC are needed each week during Farm Market season to make this important outreach possible (Tuesdays, 4-7pm, late May through September).
You can help with setup, hospitality, parking, or tear down.

When you serve, wear your blue or tie dye “God loves you no matter what” tee shirt (available through the church office for $10/$20).
In 2021, an average of 1,070 people came to the Hilliard Farm Market each week, thanks to your generous contributions of time, talents, and money! We host 40 vendors each week and 11 food and sweets trucks!
The community donated 525 books through the Farm Market to Books in Little Hands and packed 175 backpacks with Hilliard Kiwanis to give to Hilliard City Schools students!
