Wesleyan Quadrilateral
October 23, 2024A Note from Pastor April Dear Friends, A few weeks ago, I shared one of our core United Methodist frameworks, the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. This framework provides a helpful tool for how we understand and come to know God I like this second image because it also helps us to see how they interact, and particularly how we read and understand scripture. Scripture provides a place to start from and to stand. It is the primary way the story…
The Church
May 15, 2024A Note from Pastor April Dear Friends, Spending time with family has always been really precious to me. When Martin and I made the move to Ohio in 2003, we left behind our families in Arkansas. Since then, my immediate family has only become more scattered across the US (my sister in Seattle and my brother and his wife in Colorado). Though we make lots of efforts to stay connected and see each other throughout the year, I…

Music & Church
February 8, 2023A Note from Ryan Freudenburg Dear Friends, Growing up in my family, there were two constants: music and church. The two were often a package deal. My childhood was full of Sunday services, youth group, church camp, worship bands, choirs, the list goes on. Not only is music a huge part of my life, but it is also a huge part of my faith. I grew up in a conservative church, and as I left college and entered…
The Great Story
December 14, 2022A Note from Pastor April Dearest Friends, As we wind down our journey through the Old Testament and gear up for a year of stories surrounding the life of Jesus, I have been reflecting about so many things that I’ve learned this year. Like many people, I once used phrases like “The God of the Old Testament” to describe my view of a harsh and less forgiving version of God… and “The God of the New Testament” to…

Worship Returns to Warehouse 839
Friday, September 16, 2022 Dearest Friends, This week, we will hold our first Sunday worship service in the Warehouse 839 space since March 2020. We’ll gather at 5pm this Sunday, September 18. As we prepare for this time together, I’m noticing how many feelings are arising for me. I’m excited. I’m nervous. I’m hopeful. I’m also a bit sad. What we had in Warehouse 839 before it was cut short was something special. There is a part of me that is still grieving the…
